1. What is SAP HANA?

SAP HANA (High-Performance Analytic Appliance) is a modern, in memory-database and platform that is deployable on premise or in the cloud.
The SAP HANA platform allows you to analyze large volume of data in real time.
SAP HANA platform allows you to store and access data in-memory and column based by using the database services.
SAP HANA allows both online transaction processing (OLTP) and online analytical processing (OLAP) on one system.
SAP HANA allows to develop applications, run your custom applications built on SAP HANA, and manage their lifecycles by using application services.

2. What are the user types required in SAP HANA Database?

Users: These are regular users who uses SAP HANA database regularly. These users are created by the system administrators.
SYSTEM User: These are the user where they will be having system administrator access.
Technical user: SYS, _SYS_STATISTICS and _SYS_REPO. These are internal users within the SAP HANA database and cannot logon from outside.
Application-specific technical users: An application server may log on to the SAP HANA database using a dedicated technical users.

3. What are the privileges in SAP HANA?

a. System Privileges: These are applicable to System and database and assigned mainly to Administrators and developers.
b. Object Privileges: These are applicable to database objects like tables, views and schemas. These privileges are mainly assigned to end users and technical users.
c. Analytic Privileges: These are used to allow read access to data in SAP HANA information models like analytic views. These are assigned to end users.
d. Package Privileges: These are used to allow access to work in packages in the repository of the HANA database. These are assigned to application and content developers.
e. Application Privileges: These are used to allow access to HANA XS classic applications. These are assigned to application end users and technical users.

4. What is system database in SAP HANA?

The system database is created in SAP HANA during the installation. The system database contains the information about the system and its tenant databases. 
The HANA system contains exactly one system database and contains its own data and users for system administration. 
The system database stores all the information related to system landscape, which includes information of the tenant databases also.

5. Column and Row-Based Data Storage in SAP HAHA?

The SAP HANA database supports both column-wise and row-wise storage of tables. But the default storage type in HANA database is column storage.
Column storage is used when user want to execute calculations on individual columns or small number of columns.
Column storage is also used when the table has a large number of columns.
Row storage is used when the application needs to process only one single record at one time. 
Row storage is also used when the table contains small number of rows.

6. What are the audit activities in SAP HANA?

Below are some of the activities performed on the SAP HANA database.
a. Changes to user authorization
b. Creation or deletion of database objects
c. Authentication of users
d. Changes to system configuration
e. Access to or changing of sensitive information
